CAREER COACH & COMMUNITY DEVELOPER

Position/Job Summary

Plan and implement student/alumni career engagement and education efforts and facilitate career networking, instruction, advising, and coaching with students and alumni in all aspects of their career development and exploration processes through partner and network development, workshop facilitation, group career coaching, and individual appointments and drop-ins. Plan and execute large events, and design, develop, and facilitate workshops for various constituents. Liaise with faculty and staff to promote office events, services, resources, and collaboration. Contribute to the overall vision and mission of the department, division, and College through participation in meetings, committees, goal setting, and professional development opportunities.

Position/Job Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in counseling, education, or related field and a minimum of one year experience in career coaching and relationship-building with internal and external constituents. Demonstrated experience in facilitating career development workshops and coaching for diverse student populations, and commitment to support, empower, and retain students from minority identity groups. Knowledge of career development theories, current job market trends, and best practices for resumes, cover letters, networking, interviewing, job searching, etc. Excellent interpersonal, communication, networking, and organizational skills; attention to detail; ability to work independently and collaboratively, and the ability to effectively work and interact respectfully within a diverse and inclusive environment Strong technology skills including Microsoft Office, career-related software and tools, and online research required. Master’s degree in related field; experience in event planning, marketing, program assessment; experience with career assessment tools such as the MBTI and Strong Interest Inventory preferred.
