Job Summary:
Skidmore College seeks an individual to act as a data entry specialist, transcriptionist, and lab manager for an NIH-funded psychology project related to archiving a large audiovisual dataset.
The primary responsibilities of this individual include:
- Transcribing large quantities of audio and visual content.
- Entering and organizing numerical, audio, and visual data.
- Light-touch editing of audio and visual data (bleeping, blurring).
- File organization.
- Ensuring compliance of transcriptions and audiovisual data with ethical guidelines.
- Creating and implementing protocols for data entry, transcription, and data storage.
- Management of student workers involved in the project.
Substantially more than half of the average workday will be spent transcribing an audiovisual dataset, and much of the remaining work day will be spent organizing, filing, and labeling that dataset. Individuals who are interested in data entry and enjoy transcribing large quantities of information will be particularly well suited for this position. This position involves substantial time working independently, but also requires a high level of comfort working with and managing others. An adherence to ethical practices in research is a must, as is an extreme attention to detail.

We are particularly interested in candidates from underrepresented groups, and in candidates of all generations and backgrounds. Individuals interested in language/linguistics, open science practices, and psychology are especially encouraged.

Minimum Qualifications:
Skills: strong typing, data entry, transcription, Excel, Word, audio and visual editing (and comfort learning new programs). Excellent verbal and written communication skills and reading skills.

Qualification: Experience in data entry or transcription OR experience as an administrative assistant or lab manager OR substantial experience relevant to computers, media, psychology, or linguistics.
