Tenure-Track in Biology

The Biology Department at Bucknell University invites applications for an open-rank, tenure-track faculty position to begin August 2018. We seek an ecologist or evolutionary biologist who incorporates genomic and/or bioinformatic methods into both their research and their teaching and who complements existing areas of strength within the Department. Areas of expertise could include, but are not limited to: applied ecology, evolutionary ecology or environmental/conservation genomics. The successful candidate must have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and an equally strong commitment to diversity, inclusion, and student-centered approaches.

Teaching expectations include rotation through both introductory and upper level courses in ecology and/or evolutionary biology as well as other courses in support of the Biology curriculum and the general education goals of the University. The successful candidate will also establish a vibrant research program that involves talented undergraduates and has the potential to attract extramural funding.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. or be ABD at the time of appointment and be able to document relevant teaching experience as well as their commitment to effective, inclusive teaching. Applications should include a cover letter, curriculum vitae, a statement of teaching philosophy, a detailed description of research plans, and three confidential letters of recommendation. Review of applications will begin September 19, 2017, and the search will remain open until the position is filled. Questions about the position may be directed to the Chair of the Biology Department, Matthew Heintzelman (mheintze@bucknell.edu). Applications will only be accepted online.
