University of California, Davis School of Medicine invites applications and nominations for the position of Chair, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery.

The recruitment of the Chair of Orthopaedic Surgery is essential to the continued growth and success of UC Davis Health and the Department. He/she will inherit an exceptional foundation, a Department that is nationally ranked and recognized for outstanding clinical orthopaedic care. This includes the tailwind from an excellent reputation for orthopaedic trauma and resident education, well organized services that cover the full scope of work; faculty that are collegial and productive, and a funded Orthopaedic Research Laboratory.

The Chair will have the opportunity to re-shape the Department with new research and/or clinical recruits, new basic, interdisciplinary and translational/ clinical research programs, and leveraging the existing strengths of an already strong regional clinical footprint.

The successful candidate will hold an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. and will be an outstanding leader and skilled surgeon, widely recognized in the field with a strong track record of scholarly productivity and impactful research. He/she must be a respected leader who is operationally savvy, highly knowledgeable of cutting edge orthopaedic surgical care, and a visionary leader in the new age of orthopaedic science.

The candidate will hold and Endowed Chair and must meet requirements for appointment as Full Professor in the Ladder Rank (Regular), Clinical Investigator (Clinical X), or the Health Sciences Clinical Professor series at the University of California, have a California Medical License (or be eligible for licensure), and be board certified.
