Title Position Reports To: Director, Hudson Valley Center Social Work Program
Job Summary:
The Assistant Director for Field Education is responsible for administration of field education for the Hudson Valley Center social work program and the Orange County (OCCC) initiative. The position is accountable to both the Director of Social Work at the Hudson Valley Center and the Director of Field Education based in Garden City. The Assistant Director of Field is part of an administrative team that works collaboratively within the center as well as with other administrators from the Garden City campus and the other extension centers.

Responsibilities & Duties:
Field Education :
Develop and evaluate field agency settings and field instructors.
Identify and develop new field agency affiliation throughout the Hudson Valley region and for the expanding field education enrollment in the SUNY Orange (OCC) MSW program.
Conduct placement-planning meetings with entering MSW students.
Perform educational assessments and assign field placements to entering and continuing graduate students.
Develop employment based field education plans for students employed in qualifying human service agencies
Oversee Hudson Valley Center's Seminar in Field Instruction (SIFI) for new agency field instructors
Hire and supervise adjunct faculty serving as Faculty Field Liaisons for both the Orange County and the Hudson Valley Center programs
Oversee development and implementation of professional development for Faculty Field Liaisons
Orient new adjunct faculty field liaisons to their position and provide ongoing mentorship in professional advisement and class/field integration
Assign faculty field liaison workload, in collaboration with the Director of Field Education.
Maintain field education database for Hudson Valley Center and the Orange County (OCCC) students and agencies
Provide consultation to faculty field liaisons in developing educational contracts for students who are experiencing difficulty in field performance and developing and demonstrating core competencies.
Oversee educational planning and problem resolution process for students experiencing difficulties in field performance.
Consult as needed with the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, the Director of Field Education, and the Chair of the Academic Committee Standards Committee for students at risk in field education.
Coordinate evaluation activities addressing both implicit and explicit curriculum outcomes.
In collaboration with Center Director, develop and implement educational forums for field instructors.
Additional Responsibilities :
Serve on School Committees as assigned.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with students, faculty, and agency personnel.
Comprehensive knowledge and skills in social work supervision and field instruction.
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Effective time management and organizational skills.
Strong computer skills. Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Online Course Management Programs

Educational/Experience Requirements:
M.S.W. (Masters in Social Work) from a CSWE accredited School of Social Work; minimum of six years post-M.S.W. direct practice experience including three years of relevant supervisory and administrative experience; Licensed in New York State (LMSW or LCSW), experience in field education or related area(s) of social work education, and relevant experience in providing training to practitioners.
