Degree and area of specialization:

Bachelor's degree in social work, health education, or related human service field. Master's degree preferred.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

- Knowledge of mental health field, including substance use disorders.
- Minimum 2-3 years clinical experience required. Experience in substance use disorders counseling preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and independently.
- Project management skills, including organization and attention to details preferred.
- Experience in program planning and delivery, including budget management desirable.
- Experience in distance education teaching desirable.

Position Summary:

The Department of Liberal Arts and Applied Studies in the Division of Continuing Studies is seeking a motivated individual to develop, direct, and teach continuing education programs in mental health and substance use disorders. This position is responsible for growing a portfolio of non-credit face-to-face and online professional development programs to meet the continuing education needs of human service professionals, including social workers, counselors, psychologists and others who work with individuals and families dealing with behavioral and mental health issues, including substance use disorders. The goal of this three-year project position is to strengthen the portfolio of high quality, revenue-generating programs that capitalizes on UW-Madison strengths and our unique niche related to continuing education in human services.

The program director position includes planning for face-to-face and online delivery of certificates, courses, and custom training, developing and managing budgets such that programs meet revenue targets, working with the marketing team to promote programs, hiring instructors, teaching selected courses, and evaluating programs.
