Responsibilities:

The Education Librarian has primary responsibility for supporting the research, information, collection, and instructional needs of the Kalmanovitz School of Education (KSOE) faculty and students. KSOE supports sixteen graduate programs awarding masters', certificates, and an E.D.D. The incumbent will also provide general reference and instructional services, serve on Library and Campus committees, and assume other duties as needed. Reports to the Coordinator of Reference Services.

Incumbent will be expected to lead and manage a suite of services the Library offers to the Kalmanovitz School of Education. The KSOE program has campus-wide impact, has received national grants, and contributes significantly to the College's graduate learning outcomes. Incumbent will be expected to understand the landscape of higher education, understand current trends and developments in teacher, counselor and leadership education and training, and stay abreast of national trends and innovations in both instruction and assessment. Incumbent will be expected to set goals, establish strategic plans in areas of responsibility, and then work with KSOE faculty and SMC colleagues to provide quality services.

MLS from an accredited program

Preferred:
Subject degree in a field appropriate to the programs taught by the Kalmanovitz School of Education and demonstrated effective and innovative classroom teaching experience. Professional and pedagogical commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Experience:
1. Demonstrated an understanding of the principles and practice of providing academic library services.
2. Demonstrated successful experience teaching (prefer at a post-secondary level) and substantive educational background in education, leadership, counseling or teacher training.
3. Desirable: Experience with information literacy instruction programs supporting critical thinking skills and course, department, and campus level learning outcomes

Skills/Abilities:
1. Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in information literacy instruction at a college level.
2. Demonstrated successful teaching experience and skill.
3. Ability to address national educational standards and develop scaffolded instruction.
4. Strong organizational and project management skills.
5. Social media skills, skill with alternative/hybrid instruction tools and techniques.
6. Desirable: Understanding of and experience with assessment principles and best practices.
7. Proficiency with personal computers and software, the Web, and library-relevant information technology and electronic resources and tools.
8. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in written and oral form.
9. Ability to exercise initiative, make independent decisions & interpret policies.
10. Ability to work effectively with diverse staff, faculty & students.
11. Ability to work successfully both as an active, collaborative team member and independently.
12. Commitment to professional issues, including active participation in local, state, regional, or national associations and awareness of current of research in the field of Library Science.
