Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

Must have strong organizational and writing skills and possess the ability to communicate effectively with faculty, researchers, and staff at all levels within the UW-Madison, as well as with staff within funding agencies. One or more years of experience in sponsored programs administration (grants, contracts, federal and nonfederal sponsors/agencies; program, budgetary, regulatory, and compliance requirements) is preferred.
Qualifications include the ability to be flexible in work assignments; ability to meet deadlines; ability to multitask efficiently; independent problem solving and analytical skills; comprehensive working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word and database management tools; and ability to develop complex grant/contract budgets and other spreadsheets and proposal-related administrative documents. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative, collegial team environment.

Position Summary:

This position is a member of the College of Engineering Research Services Team within the Office of Research located within the Dean's Office. The Research Services Team has administrative responsibility for all aspects of extramural research support for 9 departments and over 30 centers within the College of Engineering and reports directly to the Assistant Dean for Research Administration. This position directly supports research administration activities for federal and non-federal funded programs within the College of Engineering, and will serve a variety of departments/centers to balance workloads, as deemed necessary by the Assistant Dean for Research Administration. Activities will require interacting directly with Principal Investigators (PIs), college and campus administrators, and sponsors/agencies in proposal preparation and submission ensuring that University and funding agency rules, regulations, policies, and guidelines are followed. This position is the primary research administrator and point of contact for large-scale proposals coordinated through the Grainger Institute for Engineering.
