Job Summary:

The Wisconsin Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (WVDL) is a high volume diagnostic laboratory that provides a broad range of veterinary diagnostic testing services to approximately 2,500 clients. Laboratories are located both in Madison and in Barron.

This position is located in the Madison lab and performs a wide variety of administrative activities in the areas of financial administrative support, human resources administrative support, purchasing support, travel support, and records management for a laboratory employing approximately 87 permanent/project staff and 5-15 TEs, and student hourly employees. This position also provides program and administrative support to the Director and Section Heads in a wide variety of administrative areas.

The employee in this position is expected to demonstrate exceptional customer service by establishing and maintaining effective professional relationships with managers, supervisors, employees, clients, veterinarians, animal owners and local, state, and national veterinary medical organizations and government officials. Professional communications, workplace sensitivity and diplomacy are essential. Position responsibilities require the exercise of individual initiative, independent judgment and discretion. Work is performed under general supervision by the University Business Specialist Supervisor, using independent judgment and in conformance with established procedures, methods, and policies.

FTE may range between .75 and 1.00 depending on work load.
