Minimum $48,333 ANNUAL (12 months)
Depending on Qualifications

Degree and area of specialization:

Bachelor's degree with a major in clinical laboratory science, life science, or related field (required). Master's degree or PhD in Genetics, Molecular Biology, Laboratory Medicine, or related field (preferred).

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

Experience in human genetics research and/or clinical testing particularly with techniques such as: fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), PCR (RT-PCR, qRT-PCR, ms-PCR), Sanger and Next-generation sequencing, automated fragment analysis, and microarray (CGH, SNP, expression). Strong communication and computer skills.

License or Certificate:

Certification as a medical technologist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) is a plus.

Position Summary:

Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene (WSLH) is hiring a full-time research specialist to perform laboratory methods, develop testing procedures, mediate the transition from research to clinical testing, and perform routine clinical tests in the human molecular genetics and cytogenetics laboratory of Disease Prevention Division.
