Counseling Center Director

Percent of Time/Week:100% Service Schedule:Calendar Year

Position Description:

Provides leadership, vision and oversight of services provided by the Counseling Center; supervises and evaluates staff; provides assessments, short-term individual counseling, crisis intervention, and group therapy; serves as mental health consultant to the campus community and works collaboratively across the University.

Education Requirements:

Master's or doctoral degree in mental health counseling, psychology, social work, or marriage and family therapy required.

Required Qualifications:

At least three years of recent clinical experience including a minimum of one year experience working with college age clients, and partial or full-time administrative duties including supervision of professional staff required.

Certifications:

Current Iowa license for mental health counselor, psychologist or social work or ability to attain a license within one year of hire required.

Desirable Qualifications:

PhD in counseling or clinical psychology; experience working in a college or university counseling center; demonstrated experience working with and appreciation for diverse student populations; experience in the development of counseling and mental health services and programs in a university setting, including assessment, quality improvement, and use of data to inform decision-making; experience developing group counseling, outreach and adult programs; expertise in crisis intervention and management; and an affinity for working in an interdisciplinary team preferred.
