Coordinator, Law Admissions and Financial Aid

Summary: The Coordinator for Admissions and Financial at the Wake Forest University School of Law performs several key roles, including but not limited to analyzing, developing and implementing admissions strategies, managing the application process, counseling prospective students on the application cycle and incoming students on matriculation, and acting as operational assistant to the Assistant Dean for Admissions and Financial Aid and Director of Financial Aid.

Essential Functions:

Application Process Manager
  • Utilizes the software system Aces2 to maintain applicant data.
  • Creates, revises, and maintains the current year's applications for JD, transfer, and visiting students. Enters LL.M, SJD and VIR applications. This includes remaining current on all LSAC and ABA requirements.
  • Generates and sends Candidate Referral Service queries and emails to prospective students.
  • Identifies completed applicant files, codes them appropriately, and distributes them to the Dean, then the admissions committee, while maintaining the tracking system for file circulation.
  • Responsible for emailing applicants at several stages of the application process, including upon receipt of their application, upon review and completion, and upon decision.
  • Notifies applicants when their documentation is not complete, and works to resolve those issues.
  • Manages all admissions mailings, including initial decision responses and all subsequent mailings for accepted students, along with the Admissions Assistant.
  • Coordinates with Career Services, the Student Bar Association, the library, the Dean's Office, and the Communications department to help create, coordinate, and distribute mailings for accepted students.
  • Enters scholarship awards into Aces2.
  • Assists the Associate Director in executing the transfer of data on new students from Aces2 into Banner creating student records in Banner, including the original creation, of records, updates, adding decisions to create SGASTDN records, and several other functions.
  • Prepares numerous complex statistical reports for the Dean, Committee, and other entities upon request. This includes the annual ABA reports, WFU institutional reports, as well as day to day status reports necessary in the enrollment management process.

General Duties
  • Creates content for and maintains the Admissions and New Student website, including the to-do lists and pertinent information for incoming students. This also includes a self-scheduling application and utilizes Wordpress and Machform softwares.
  • Provides supervision, training, work direction, and problem solving assistance for work study students.
  • Acts as assistant to the Dean of Admissions, performing various administrative tasks as needed.
  • Coordinates with Parking Services to make matriculated students aware of procedures, as well as distributing passes once generated.
  • Works with the Deacon OneCard office to generate and distribute Student ID cards.
  • Maintains contact with incoming students regarding their immunization records as well as the status of their official transcripts and Dean's certifications.
  • Generates computing usernames and passwords for all incoming students, using several processes in Banner.
  • Supervises work-study students.

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • High school graduate with three years of related experience performing comparable duties in a complex business setting.
  • Proficiency in ACES2, Microsoft applications including Windows, Excel
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to organize workflow and coordinate activities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Experience with Wordpress, Banner, and Machform softwares.

Accountabilities:
  • Responsible for own work.
  • Responsible for the supervision of work-study students.
