Server Security Administrator

Job Title: Server Security Administrator Job Number: 2017-133 Department: Information Technology-Technical Services 26540 Job Description:

Salary: Commensurate with education and experience

Job Summary :The Server Security Administrator is responsible for maintaining, auditing, and documenting security configurations on all client and server systems. In addition, the administrator will assist in security and compliance related investigations with other departments within the organization.

Duties and Essential Job Functions:

Maintains server security configurations. Maintains additional security support solutions (Anti-virus, patch management, integrity, and change management). Troubleshoots client security problems.

Provides technical assistance with internal investigation or compliance issues. Researches, recommends, and implements security solutions to safeguard TCU assets.

Performs other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in computer related field or equivalent in experience.
  • 3 plus years' experience supporting Windows-based server hardware/software security in a networked enterprise environment.


Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:
  • Ability to acquire Information Security and Microsoft certifications


Preferred Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:
  • One or more information security certification (CISSP, GIAC, GSEC, GCUX, etc.), Microsoft, or other relevant enterprise certifications.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Knowledge to support Local Area Networks and TCP/IP protocols.
  • Knowledge in enterprise change control methodology and documentation processes.
  • Skill in strong interpersonal and relational communication.
  • Skill in sound judgment; imitative; flexibility and detailed oriented.
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team to fulfill project goals.
  • Ability to maintain security in existing Windows-based systems such as Directory Service, Web, File, Anti-Virus, Patch Management.
  • Ability to resolve technical problems on client operating systems
  • Ability to implement server firewall rules.
  • Ability to forensically investigate security incidents, create and maintain server hardening checklists.


Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations):
  • Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
  • Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
  • Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
  • Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
  • Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 10 lbs.


Work Environment:
  • Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
  • There are no harmful environmental conditions present for this job.
  • The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.
