Coordinator of Strategy and Marketing, College of Health Sciences

The primary duties of this position include assisting the deans and chairs in strategic marketing and communications planning; assessing the effectiveness of the organization's alumni engagement; and publicizing the College's accomplishments of key strategic goals, objectives, and action items. This position is responsible for assisting the deans and chairs, researching, developing, implementing, and assessing a focused communications and marketing campaign for the entire college and its five schools and centers, through cultivation of relationships with faculty, students, alumni, parents, employers and friends and telling the story of the college. It serves as liaison with University Marketing and Alumni Relations peers, affiliated partners, and other internal/external stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in journalism, advertising, communications, public relations/affairs, marketing and/or another related field OR a bachelor's degree in journalism, advertising, communications, public relations/affairs, marketing and/or other related field and related work experience which equate to a master's degree in the aforementioned fields. Considerable experience in journalism, advertising, communications, public relations/affairs, marketing and/or another related field. Considerable knowledge of public relations, communications, and marketing strategies. Considerable knowledge of social media avenues and technologies for current emerging marketing and advertising. Skill in writing, reporting, and promoting plans/strategies based on independent research, interviews, document review, dashboards, and interaction across the communities served. Strong photography and video production skills and considerable knowledge of the software. Strong interviewing, writing, editing, and media "pitching" skills. Proficient skill in the use of a personal computer and current software applications including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and email), social marketing concepts, and other electronic technologies. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in order to write purposely and persuasively. Organizational and time management skills. Ability to handle confidential, proprietary, strategic, and other types of sensitive information and serve as a catalyst for constructive communication among various constituencies. Ability to research issues, provide solutions, and make appropriate decisions and know when to bring concerns to management.

Preferred Qualifications
Some experience in communications, public relations, and/or marketing in a higher education environment. Some knowledge of ODU and of the College of Health Sciences.

Conditions of Employment
