The primary objective of this position is to ensure all payroll transactions completed by the Payroll Staff, University Departments, and University Employees comply with the applicable Federal Laws, State Laws, and University Policies and Procedures each pay period.

Working knowledge of payroll policies, procedures, and processing. Working knowledge of auditing practices, policies, and procedures. Working knowledge of basic accounting principles. Working knowledge of effective customer service and problem-resolution techniques when working with diverse customers. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to enter and manipulate data and produce reports in database software. Demonstrated ability to produce documents using PC-based software such as Microsoft Office Suite. Demonstrated ability to perform complex mathematical computations. Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize work, and to complete all tasks required with minimum supervision.

Level and type of experience
Considerable experience working in a payroll environment.

Preferred knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience, licensure, certification
Prior experience working with payroll, payroll taxes, federal and state tax laws. Some knowledge of State payroll policies and procedures. BANNER training preferred. Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or related experience.
