Degree and area of specialization:

Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred. Degree in education preferred.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

3-5 years experience within an education program administration setting is required; preference will be given to candidates with experience working within a medical education setting. Additionally, prior experience managing complex schedules, coordinating large groups of people, and/or successfully communicating with faculty, staff and students is preferred.

Position Summary:

The Medical Education Office within the UW School of Medicine & Public Health seeks a Phase 2 Educational Coordinator to manage and advance the curriculum objectives of the newly transformed UW School of Medicine & Public Health's (SMPH) MD curriculum (http://www.med.wisc.edu/md-program-forward-curriculum/48018). This position will work closely with clinical science faculty as well as department-based and state wide campus-based educational coordinators to support the varied teaching and assessment methods in Phase 2. Responsibilities include creating block schedules across multiple departments and sites, working with faculty Block Leaders to develop and implement orientations to blocks, maintaining resources within the Learning Management System (Canvas, OASIS and other software for Phase 2 Student Passport), coordinating longitudinal projects and overseeing Phase 2 communication across all departments & sites. Additionally, this position will coordinate the use of online and classroom educational technologies, facilitate the block evaluation process and work with departments to recruit faculty instructors as needed.

Highly effective and professional interpersonal and communication skills are essential for success in this position. Mastery of standard office software, experience with educational technologies, the ability to demonstrate effective problem solving and the ability to function with a high degree of independence are required. Outstanding organizational and time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines and establish and maintain effective working relationships with administration, students, faculty and staff are necessary qualities for success in this position. This position reports to the Phase 2 Director.
