Job Summary:
Performs and assists with the work of installing, maintaining, inspecting, and repairing the plumbing infrastructure for the campus. Evaluates and corrects a wide variety of plumbing-related equipment and system problems. Performs scheduled maintenance and diagnostic tasks designed to reduce failures and to predict unavoidable failures. Maintains City/County certification to perform required testing of back-flow prevention devices. Completes testing and document results as required. Other duties as assigned.


Essential Qualifications:
Journey-level experience as a plumber acquired through any combination of progressively responsible training and/or experience which demonstrates the achievement of skills equivalent to those acquired through completion of a standard plumbers apprenticeship program. Knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the plumbing trade. Basic knowledge of the operation of building automation systems. Thorough knowledge of applicable state and federal health and safety orders and regulations pertaining to the plumbing trade, including the California State Safety Orders of the Division of Industrial Safety and the California State Plumbing codes. Ability to read prints, simple specifications, and manuals. Ability to read and write at a level appropriate to the position. Familiarity with all safety regulations and practices. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate with a wide variety of individuals. Familiar with Preventive Maintenance practices and principles.

Special Working Conditions:
Ability to work in an asbestos environment and in confined spaces is required. Requires wearing of respirator gear. Will carry a Master Key.
