Job Summary: The Academic Program Specialist is responsible for providing support primarily for undergraduate programs in the College.

Duties and Essential Job Functions:

Provides undergraduate program support by completing undergraduate degree plans and intent to graduate forms, submitting them for approval by the College Academic Advisor; processes change of major and minor requests; assigns faculty advisors and tracks faculty advising loads; processes athletic certifications; assists the College Academic Advisor with graduate forms; manages student requests for add/drop permission; processes assorted forms and plans prepared by or signed by the College Academic Advisor; assists the College Academic Advisor with logistics for orientation and registration sessions or advising workshops by reserving locations, creating nametags and signage, assisting with publicity, etc.; assists the College Academic Advisor in creating and implementing new processes for working with undergraduate students.

Provides support to the Dean's office by sharing Dean's Office receptionist duties with fellow Academic Program Specialist and student workers; provides testing center backup when necessary; provides miscellaneous administrative support for College Academic Advisor.

Performs other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Clerical test is required:

Typing score must be 40 WPM with 98% accuracy; data entry score must be 4000 KPH with 98% accuracy; basic skills score must be 70%. If you currently have test scores on file in Human Resources, those will be used. Applications will not be forwarded to departments until satisfactory scores are on file.
Required Education and Experience:

Bachelors' degree or equivalent in experience.

2 years' of program management experience, including academic counseling experience.

Preferred Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:

WordPress is a plus

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge of College operations, curriculum and degree requirements.

Ability to process degree requirements and student records with the highest level of accuracy.

Ability to respect confidentiality in dealing with personnel and information.

Skill at managing multiple tasks simultaneously, setting priorities and meeting deadlines with accuracy and detail.

Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with multiple audiences in writing and verbally.

Ability to establish and maintain reports, databases, personnel records, shared drive and other support resources, including Microsoft Office programs, PeopleSoft and ImageNow.

Ability to interact professionally and appropriately with stakeholders in the College and around TCU, and with students, parents, alumni, donors and guests.

Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations):

Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.

Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.

Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.

Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.

Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 10 lbs.

Work Environment:

Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.

There are no harmful environmental conditions present for this job.

The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.
