Procurement Contract Specialist - Purchasing Department

The Purchasing and Strategic Sourcing Department is responsible for the administration of all purchasing activities on campus in accordance with the University s established policies, procedures and governmental regulations. Purchasing and Strategic Sourcing negotiates and manages contracts with Tufts suppliers, and is accountable for the efficient procurement of goods and services through the use of competitive bidding, negotiation, and consortia agreements. Strategic Sourcing is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive sourcing plans to ensure we are achieving the best value from our suppliers.

A key member of the Strategic Sourcing Team responsible for supporting all aspects of contract management process. This individual will work on procurement related contracts for entire university in spend categories such as Professional Services, IT, Research Consumables and Equipment, HR, Facilities and Operations to ensure the best value and mitigate risk. The primary area of responsibility is to draft, negotiate and finalize an extensive range of Procurement contracts in close coordination with Strategic Sourcing and University Counsel.


Qualifications:

Basic Requirements:
  • The candidate should possess a Bachelor s Degree with 3-5 years relevant experience.
  • Proficient knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Extensive contract negotiation experience.
  • Familiarity with Hardware, Software and professional service contracts.
  • Able to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong capacity to prioritize work and projects.
  • Excellent collaboration and team leadership skills.
  • Must demonstrate effective communication skills and develop good working relationships with external sponsors, principal investigators and other University departments.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Some familiarity with legal implications of FERPA, GLB, HIPPA, FAR, PCI-DSS, PII data and Mass Data Privacy Laws a plus.
  • Paralegal training and/or certification helpful, but not required.
  • Experience working with a contract management software a plus.
