Position Summary and Responsibilities Vassar College, a Division III institution in the Liberty League, seeks applicants for the position of Assistant Director of Athletic Communications. This is a two-year benefit eligible, 10-month appointment with duties occurring from August 1 - June 1.

The successful candidate will assist the Director of Athletic Communications with the promotion of the department's 23 varsity sports and four varsity club teams. Duties include but are not limited to: assist with the management of the athletics department's website, writing game recaps, cultivating positive relationships with media members, writing, editing, assisting in the design of graphics and video content for social media, assisting with day-to-day operations and other duties as assigned. Evening, weekend and holiday hours are required.

Vassar College athletics programs are conducted in compliance with policies, procedures and regulations of Vassar College, the NCAA and the Liberty League.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree is required. Experience in an athletics communications or media relations setting as an undergraduate or professional. Demonstrated writing skills with prior experience in sports writing, sports copy editing, proofreading or desktop publishing. Must have ability to work on deadlines and handle several responsibilities simultaneously with minimal supervision. Experience and demonstrated proficiency with computers and desktop publishing programs on Macintosh and/or PC platforms. A valid and unrestricted driver's license is also required. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations or a related field. Experience with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Premiere Pro. Experience with sport-specific software programs, such as StatCrew, and content management programs. Familiarity with SIDEARM-designed websites. Experience with digital photography, videography, graphic design, video design and applying created content to social media platforms. Knowledge of emerging social media platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal, organizational, and written/oral communication skills.
