Degree and area of specialization:

Minimum of a BA / BS required; Education, training or experience in health care, research or related field is preferred.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

- Minimum of one year of experience working in a research setting required
- Familiarity with the health care field or health research required
- Knowledge of research confidentiality/privacy issues required
- Knowledge/experience of UW regulations and procedures, including the IRB preferred
- Graphic art skills, media presentation skills, web and social media skills
- Familiarity with the Oregon, Wisconsin School District helpful

License or Certificate:

Position Summary:

The Department of Family Medicine and Community Health Research Specialist will work as a member of Dr. Jonathan Temte's research team, working directly with other study team members, clinicians, school staff and research subjects. The incumbent will help to design, maintain and track questionnaires, protocols, and monitoring tools. Additionally, they will also be responsible for outreach, advertising, recruitment, and management of human subjects, which includes developing relationships with school and clinic staff, scheduling home visits, collecting samples and study specific data and data entry. The specific research involves school and clinic based influenza surveillance. Experience working with clinicians, lab staff and/or children is a plus. This position reports to the Program Manager, Shari Barlow.

Additional Information:

- Travel is required for this position due to the need for home/clinic visitation. Incumbent must qualify to use a UW-Madison fleet vehicle by possessing a valid driver's license and meeting risk management standards, or have the ability to provide own transportation that meets UW-Madison risk management standards.
