Starting Salary Range: $2,498 to $2,551 per month

Job Summary:

Location: To be determined - The Beaverton, Hillsboro, or Tigard DHS office.

- "Case Aide" is the working title for this position; the formal title in the PCC job classification system is "Resource Support Assistant II."

Provides assistance/support to clients and to professional staff in the Employment and Training Programs. Work assignments vary depending on the level of job within the job family. Interpersonal contacts may include clients, staff, other PCC personnel, employers, and other outside organizations or personnel. Skills/abilities necessary in varying degrees depending on area of responsibility include: Interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills, organization skills, telephone skills, computer skills, presentation skills, coaching skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and the ability to deal with a very diverse ethnic and socio-economic group of clients.

Responsibilities/Duties:
-Compiles, edits and types memos, agendas, reports, contracts, utilizing word processing software; may perform some composition of above materials as required.
-Provides technical information and guidance to students, staff, and the public regarding Steps to Success and other Capital Career Center programs, Department of Human Services policies and procedures, both over the phone and in person.
-Answers phones, takes and distributes messages.
-Reviews and/or prepares and processes paperwork that may include but is not limited to the hiring of staff, customer grades and records, purchasing, text book orders, other forms, and job orders.
-Inputs and/or retrieves information from college mainframe and/or microcomputer or other computer networks; creates and maintains databases.

Minimum Qualifications:

- Satisfactory references and successful completion of the criminal background check are required to meet the minimum qualifications for hire into this position.

Education: High school diploma or the equivalent required.

Experience: Two years of resource support experience required. An Associate's degree in a related area may substitute for the two years of required experience.


Skills/Abilities: Required skills include: keyboarding, math and/or ten-key skills. A working knowledge of work processing, database and /or spreadsheet applications. Must have good interpersonal, organization, and problem solving skills. Must have ability to: maintain accurate records; use standard office machines such as fax, telephone and copy machines; and convey technical information to students, staff, and the public.

Physical Requirements: This position requires the ability to operate standard office machines and the ability to sit for long periods. Occasional lifting, guiding and/or carrying of light- weight materials may be required.

- Demonstrated experience communicating with customers that are in the midst of personal crisis and helping them to find resources to meet their needs.
- Demonstrated experience supporting multiple service providers that are working towards a common goal with shared, diverse customers.
- Demonstrated experience reading through narratives and a variety of databases to seek information.
- Demonstrated experience documenting work and contacts made with customers in a multi-user database.
- Demonstrated experience working with diverse customers in a group situation.
