Job Summary:

The position requires outstanding administrative, organizational, interpersonal, and computer skills, as well as the ability to work independently and proactively. The position must interface with both internal and external stakeholders and a high level of professionalism is expected. Basic understanding of regulations regarding accrediting bodies, University policy and procedures, and the ability to exercise good judgment is highly desired.

This position provides complex administrative assistance in all aspects of the BerbeeWalsh Department of Emergency Medicine, as well as provides administrative support to the Research section, and other key areas of the Department. As the Department continues to grow, administrative staff will have the unique opportunity to support key director positions (e.g. Peds, Ultrasound, Global Health, etc.).

The Department is composed of 39+ faculty physicians with a full complement of thirty-six residents. Approximately eight students rotate every four weeks. It is expected the incumbent will perform administrative duties to meet faculty, department, hospital, and UW Health goals as well as assist faculty in the successful performance of their clinical, teaching, administrative, and research activities. Responsibilities include constant tracking, prioritizing, organizing, problem solving and communicating of multiple ongoing initiatives at various stages of progress.

The position functions under general supervision and reports primarily to the Assistant Department Administrator in conjunction with the Research Directors, and subsequently to the Department Administrator and Department Chair.

Requirements:

Previous administrative work experience in an office setting or clinic, and/or a degree (Associate or higher) in medical administrative support or similar field desired.

Strong organizational skills and ability to manage diverse assignments simultaneously in a fast-paced, challenging, and stimulating environment preferred. Ability to independently prioritize work; follow through and complete tasks in a timely manner preferred.

Schedule Comment:

Typical office hours are Monday-Friday 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Schedule flexible to meet the needs of the department.

Position may be filled at 50-100% FTE depending upon candidate preference and needs of the department.
