Operation Supervisor

Job Title: Operation Supervisor Job Number: 2017-080 Department: Campus Recreation Facilities - 27375 Job Description:
FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Salary: $10.00 per hour

Job Summary: The Operations Supervisor is responsible for assisting any participant so that he/she may have a quality experience while using the Recreation Center.

Duties and Essential Job Functions:

Enforces all policies of the Department of Campus Recreation. Ensures safety of all patrons using the recreation facilities, of patrons participating in all programs and to help supervise and coordinate all activities and personnel. Participates in decision-making in the best interest of Campus Recreation and the University Recreation Center. Ensures that patrons are greeted and welcomed to the center and given accurate information. Provides oversight to all areas of the building including but not limited to: student employee shift start/end times and job assignments, equipment, and patrons are following all policies and procedures.

Supervises opening and closing procedures while ensuring all participants have vacated the building when closing. Ensures cleanliness of the Recreation Center by picking up any trash or debris that may be present and cleaning any spills immediately after they occur. Reports incidents and injuries according to established policies. Completes necessary paperwork on SharePoint concerning event evaluation and deficiencies in building maintenance, cleanliness, or security, including any unusual occurrence during the shift.

Issues and takes inventory of a multitude of recreation equipment, sales and rental of recreation equipment and daily lockers, towels, etc. or any other duties that fall under the general upkeep o the Members Services Desk and Pro Shop. Maintains fiscal accountability for all dollars processed through the cash register while on duty. Conducts thorough rounds of both the interior and exterior of the Recreation Center. Sets up and takes down sports equipment for the use of events. Assists with walk-in traffic and gives facility tours.

Supervises patrons engaged in informal recreational play. Provides care as the first responder if an emergency occurs in the facility during shift. Contacts TCU Police and/or other emergency organizations when necessary. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Required Education and Experience:
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 1 year of basic office experience.


Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:
  • CPR, AED, and First Aid.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Knowledge of basic office techniques.
  • Knowledge of basic customer service techniques.
  • Skill in effective written and verbal communications.


Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations):
  • Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
  • Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
  • Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
  • Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
  • Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 10 lbs.


Work Environment:
  • Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
  • There are no harmful environmental conditions present for this job.
  • The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.
