Requirements: Experience working in a health care or academic setting and strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills are required. Ability to independently and effectively manage workload in a high-volume setting and must be comfortable with reviewing detailed documents in an electronic format. Outstanding analytical and written communication skills required, including attention to detail and the ability to build and maintain rapport with a variety of constituencies across campus are requirements of this position.

Preferred: 2 years of administrative experience, working with an IRB and experience working with qualitative and/or community-based research are strongly preferred.

Position Summary:

The Health Sciences Institutional Review Boards (HS IRBs) Office is responsible for ensuring the protection of human subjects participating in biomedical and health sciences research projects, ranging from clinical trials to community-based research. The office works closely with a variety of constituencies including researchers, IRB members, regulatory support staff, post-approval
monitoring groups, and offices across campus that support the research community. The office is home to two IRBs: the Health Sciences IRB (HS IRB) and Minimal Risk IRB (MR IRB). This position would provide staff reviewer support primarily for the HS-IRB.

A Staff Reviewer is responsible for independently conducting in-depth reviews of IRB application and protocols to ensure compliance with federal regulations, state law, and campus policies. The role of the staff reviewer is to facilitate the IRB review process for study teams, including trouble-shooting any issues that may cause delays in obtaining IRB approval. The Staff Reviewer works collaboratively with study teams as well as with IRB members and other on campus to ensure the IRB review process proceeds smoothly.
