Degree and area of specialization:

Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred, with an emphasis on higher education, educational technology, learning sciences, human factors engineering, or related field.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

Experience with instructional technologies, with an emphasis on the use of instructional software and tools in teaching and learning required. Experience with using LMS (i.e., Canvas, Moodle, etc.)

Experience in teaching, professional development, and/or training.

Knowledge of current best practices in higher education teaching and learning, with an understanding of learning sciences research, active learning and blended learning.

Background in IT technical support, helpdesk service, troubleshooting, data management, programming, and/or web design.

Position Summary:

The UW-Madison Wisconsin Collaboratory for Enhanced Learning (WisCEL) is a UW Educational Innovation teaching and learning program spanning multiple units on campus - College of Engineering, College of Letters and Science, College of Agriculture and Life Science, General Library System, and the Division of Information Technology. WisCEL is a member of the UW-Madison Collaborative for Advancing Teaching and Learning in the Office of the Provost.

WisCEL combines student-centered active-learning pedagogy and course design, faculty support, and program evaluation with technology-enhanced, collaboration-friendly learning spaces that lead to student learning success. WisCEL annually supports more than 50 active learning courses, which serve over 5000 students at the College Library WisCEL Center and Wendt Commons WisCEL Center.

The Wisconsin Collaboratory for Enhanced Learning (WisCEL) is seeking an "Academic Technologist" to contribute to our team in facilitating innovative approaches to teaching and learning in WisCEL active learning and technology-enhanced courses on the UW-Madison campus.

This position will play a key role in WisCEL's efforts to align with university strategic goals for improving student learning, facilitating professional development, and cultivating innovative approaches to active learning and technology-enhanced instruction.

This position will work in collaboration with the WisCEL staff to:
1) Develop and deploy WisCEL instructional technologies (software, hardware, AV);
2) Provide training and consultation to instructors on integrating technology-enhanced pedagogies in active learning instruction;
3) Support WisCEL courses, faculty, and students in using WisCEL resources; and
4) Collaborate with campus T&L and technology entities to seek out and implement innovative technology solutions for effective teaching and learning in WisCEL and other active learning classrooms on campus.
