Depending on Qualifications
Degree and area of specialization:
M.S. or Ph.D. in Soil Science or closely related field with knowledge in soil, plant, manure, or forage analysis
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
2 years.
Preferred experience:
1) previous work in commercial or production analytical lab;
2) analytical chemistry and instrumentation;
3) extension presentation development and delivery in soil fertility/nutrient management;
4) management skills including supervision, budgeting, and strategic planning

Position Summary:
The University of Wisconsin-Madison is seeking a laboratory director and extension specialist at its Soil and Forage Analysis
Laboratory in Marshfield, WI. The incumbent will serve as laboratory director of diagnostic services related to soil, plant, manure, forage, and lime analysis. In addition, the incumbant will conduct extension programming related diagnostic services, nutrient availability and liming properties of municipal and industrial byproduct materials, and general soil fertility guidelines. The incumbent is expected to interact closely with extension faculty in the Department of Soil Science to ensure coordinated extension program delivery. Travel throughout the state for extension programs is expected.

Position is located at the Soil and Forage Analysis Laboratory in Marshfield, WI on the grounds of the UW Agricultural Research Station.
