Assistant Director, Industry Contracts and Alliances



ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, INDUSTRY CONTRACTS AND ALLIANCES, Office Of Sponsored Programs (OSP)-Non-Federal Agreements Team, to supervise the review of proposals to industrial sponsors to ensure adherence with MIT academic and research policies and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and sponsor requirements. Will manage and participate in the OSP team that leads and facilitates the review, negotiation, and acceptance of contracts with industry and other non-federal organizations; oversee the OSP team that leads and facilitates the review, negotiation and acceptance, and monitoring of subawards; and supervise the development and enforcement of MIT policies and procedures governing non-federal sponsored-program agreements and all research subawards. Will also serve as a member of OSP's senior leadership and project leadership teams; participate in the development, communication, and interpretation of MIT policies; and participate in the development of processes and tools to measure customer satisfaction, OSP effectiveness, and performance metrics.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: successful experience leading, motivating, and managing teams of five to ten people in a matrixed organization; experience negotiating agreements with industrial and other non-federal entities; significant experience negotiating contacts in the private sector; proven success working with companies; ability to work with faculty, researchers, and administrators from across campus and with representatives of external bodies; ability to function effectively in a complex, diverse environment with multiple and changing demands; effective written and verbal communication skills; and a passion for client satisfaction. J.D., master's degree in a science or engineering field, or master's in management with a science or engineering undergraduate degree preferred. Significant depth in and knowledge of research administration topics is also preferred, including experience with proposal process and requirements and familiarity with academic policies related to non-federal contracts.
