Summary of Duties
Serves as an Equal Opportunity Investigator for cases alleging race, national origin, color, disability, age over 40, religious, veteran, genetic information, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, discrimination, harassment, and sexual violence/assault misconduct and retaliation complaints, involving students, faculty, employees, visitors, and persons or vendors who serve the University as its agents. Follows UVU policies and procedures consistent with Federal and State civil rights regulations, conducts prompt, impartial confidential investigations from the initial report, intake, initiation of interim protective measures, through drafting complex confidential reports in a timely manner that thoroughly review and synthesize all allegations of policy violation, evidence, and witness accounts. Leads witness interviews, analyzes witness statements and analyzes all evidence in alleged discrimination cases. Prepares executive memoranda related to facts, findings, and recommendations for remedies and sanctions related to potential violations designed to stop, prevent recurrence and remedy the affects of discrimination, harassment and/or retaliation. Documents the timeline and various steps throughout the process and provides on-going updates to the Director and those with a need to know regarding the status of complaints received and investigations in progress.

Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited institution with a Bachelors degree and two years of investigative experience related to the Summary of Duties and/or other compliance issues.

Preferred Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited institution with a Bachelors degree and two years investigating Human Resources, Equal Opportunity, Title IX, Clery, SaVE, VAWA, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, or Title II of the ADA matters.

J.D. (or in progress) preferred.

Experience in an academic setting investigating employee and/or student conduct, sexual harassment, or misconduct issues.

Experience with public entity or State of Utah investigation procedures.

Conflict resolution/mediation experience.

Knowledge
Knowledge in Title IX, Clery, SaVE, VAWA,Title VII of the Civil Rights of 1964, Title II of the ADA, and other similar EEO laws.

Knowledge EEO analysis and report writing requirements.

Knowledge and understanding of conflict resolution basics.

Knowledge in research (including legal research)

Knowledge and familiarity with FERPA and HIPAA regulations.

Knowledge of and experience in Microsoft office.

Skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Excellent grammar, spelling, punctuation, composition and proofreading skills.

Working Conditions


Schedule
Full-Time, 40 hrs per week, 8:00 am 5:00 pm with the ability to work a flexible shift when needed.
