Degree and area of specialization:
B.A., B.S. or M.S. Science Degree with previous administrative experience.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Five years of research managerial experience or related program administration preferred. At least 2 years experience required.
Diverse position duties require a unique combination of education and experience in both science and administration. Ideally, the incumbent will:
(1) be knowledgeable about governmental and private funding sources and their eligibility criteria and application procedures;
(2) be able to translate highly technical scientific documents and information;
(3) have computer experience in using computers for word processing, spreadsheet, database, scientific illustration, report presentation, website development, and scientific information retrieval from the web;
(4) have experience in application of university administrative rules and regulations;
(5) will be willing to learn new skills specific to this position; and
(6) work effectively as part of a team or independently.
The successful candidate will be organized enough to ensure that all deadlines are met and potential problems avoided. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.

Position Summary:
This position provides exceptional, comprehensive, needed administrative and operational support to Professor Jahn and her small team of researchers. Professor Jahn is a Professor of Agronomy and Genetics, and holds faculty affiliate roles in the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies and the Center for Sustainability and the Global Environment. Dr. Jahn and her research team lead, or are otherwise involved in a portfolio of projects that range from local to global, focusing on issues related to sustainability science with specific projects related to food security, agriculture (crops and livestock), forestry, climate change, biofuels and other challenges related to the sustainable provisioning of natural resources. Confidentiality is key in this role.
