Degree and area of specialization:

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance is strongly preferred.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

Preferred experience in the following:
- Knowledge of or ability to interpret state statutes, federal regulations, and administrative rules.
- Knowledge of computer applications, automated accounting systems, and general financial applications.
- Ability to prepare, analyze, and interpret financial data using Excel.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all staff.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to create and run PeopleSoft Queries.
- Experience in preparing presentations and presenting.
- Proven ability in initiating change and process improvements.
- Professional work experience with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and theories.
- A minimum of three years of work experience in accounting.

Position Summary:

UW-Madison, the flagship campus of the University of Wisconsin System, is a major land-grant university committed to excellence in teaching, research, and public service, with a campus environment that facilitates cross disciplinary collaborative research, revenues of $2.8 billion, a student body of approximately 43,000, and faculty/staff of approximately 22,000. The Gift Management area is located under the Division of Business Services, Accounting Services, Asset Management and is responsible for the accounting for the University's gift tracking and reporting, including gift-in-kind donations.
Under the supervision of the Asset Management Director, this position oversees the day-to-day administration of the University of Wisconsin-Madison's gifts which total over $280 million annually. The person in this role is responsible for monitoring and the management of 10,000 projects that spread across 700 campus departments. This includes centralized oversight of the receipt of all monetary donations made to the Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association (WFAA), subsequently reported to the University Of Wisconsin System Board Of Regents, which is used to support the University of Wisconsin-Madison's higher education mission. The person in this role is expected to maintain collaborative relationships with campus units as well as our campus partners who include the WFAA and external donors. This position is responsible for maintaining campus-wide policies and procedures; developing and implementing training for campus participants; and assisting in developing auditing and monitoring procedures for the Delegated Divisions to ensure compliance with complex Federal, University and WFAA reporting requirements. Further, this position is responsible for providing assistance with audits conducted by UW System Internal Audit and the Wisconsin State Legislative Audit Bureau, along with providing financial reporting data to be included in the UW System Annual Financial Report and various reports for the WFAA.
