Degree and area of specialization:

A bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or related field is required.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

2+ years experience in an industry or academic research setting is preferred. This position requires knowledge of general laboratory equipment and materials. Highly qualified candidates will have experience in performing laboratory tasks such as molecular cloning, mammalian cell culture, real-time PCR, and sample preparation for Illumina platform sequencing.

A 'can do, get it done' work ethic is essential, as are excellent organizational, record keeping, and multi-tasking skills. The preferred candidate will be self-motivated, with excellent problem solving skills and strong attention to detail. Additionally, this position requires well-developed interpersonal skills, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently within a team environment.

Position Summary:

The Wisconsin Institute for Discovery (WID) is a transdisciplinary research institute a the University of Wisconsin-Madison exploring information across disciplines at the interfaces of research, education, and business.

The Wisconsin Institute for Discovery seeks a Laboratory Manager/Technician to join the Lewis Lab within our Epigenetics research theme. This lab investigates the mechanisms underlying biological processes, including mammalian development, oncogenic transformation, and tumor growth. The Laboratory Manager/Technician plays a key role in the day-to-day operations of the lab by providing technical/research support to the principal investigator, graduate research assistants, and undergraduate students.
