Salary: $7.75-8.50 per hour

Job Summary:

The Art Adventures Counselor is responsible for supporting the Art Adventures fine arts summer program geared towards students entering first through eighth grade to lead small groups of children, help workshop artists, and help set up and run the camp.

Duties and Essential Job Functions:

1. Leads small groups of children in grades first through eighth.

2. Assists Art Adventures workshop artists.

3. Assists in the set up and management of the Art Adventures camp.

4. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Required Education and Experience:

• Experience in leading and teaching children.

Preferred Education and Experience:

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent.

• College majors in art education, art, or education.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge of basic counseling techniques.

• Knowledge of different art media and techniques.

• Skill in working with students from grades first through eighth.

• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations):

• Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.

• Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.

• Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.

• Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.

• Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 10 lbs.

Work Environment:

• Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.

• There are no harmful environmental conditions present for this job.

• The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.
