HR Payroll Coordinator

Retirement: The University contributes 4% of the regular salary with up to 3% additional in matched contributions into the TIAA Retirement Program. Job Summary:
This position is primarily responsible for supporting the functions of the Human Resources Office. The chief tasks include managing the bi-weekly and student payroll processes and transactions which includes reviewing time sheets in Self-Service Banner, working with employees and supervisors to correct errors, ensure accuracy of payroll records, finalizing the process in Banner, and completing the required check requests. The HR Payroll Coordinator is also responsible for auditing the monthly payroll and providing support as a back-up when necessary.

Scope:
Support the Office of Human Resources through assisting with a variety of tasks, specifically payroll, to help better serve the University faculty and staff.

Principal Responsibilities:
• Manage and process all bi-weekly and student payrolls
• Assist with monthly payroll audits and serve as back-up when needed
• Process payroll adjustments, advances, check requests and extra earning payments
• Complete monthly Ada village and school district tax reports
• Create and maintain payroll calendars in Banner
• Maintain the HR pledge process
• Assist with the student employment process
• Work in conjunction with the Financial Aid Office and Career Services on Student Employment
• Process Summer camp payments
• Assist with ACA / FLSA tracking
• Manage leave reporting processes and send semester/quarterly notifications
• Assist with front office coverage
• Periodic auditing of various personnel data on-cycle
• Process all year-end adjustments reportable on W-2s
• Create, process and file W-2's and W-2c's with the appropriate agencies
• Work in conjunction with the Controller's Office on transactional items and tax filings
• Work in conjunction with the IT department on HR reporting needs and Banner
• Assist with unemployment claims through entering employee data into Banner and maintaining necessary correspondence
• Other duties as assigned

Required Skills:
• Excellent organization, communication, and customer service skills
• Ability to gather and interpret data using technical guidelines
• Some knowledge of self-funded benefits, policies and procedures preferred
• Ability to learn and work with various technical applications
• Coordination of communications with third-party administrators
• Ability to work in small groups or project teams

Minimum Qualifications:
• Associate's degree in Business Administration, Human Resource Management, or a closely related field or equivalent working experience considered
• Three to five years of similar work experience

Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree with a major related to Human Resources or Business Administration
• 5+ years of similar work experience
• Higher education and BANNER experience
