Degree and area of specialization:

Associate's or Bachelor's degree is preferred in 3D Modeling for Gaming, Animation and Motion Capture, Digital Media, Graphic Design or other related digital design field .

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

This position requires a minimum of five years' work experience for appointment at the associate level or a minimum of ten years' work experience for an appointment at the no-prefix level with programming and educational games.

Experience with the following:
* 3D Modeling, Texturing, and Lighting skills
* Experience using Unity 3D game engine preferred
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
* Ability to work within a team environment
* An attention to detail and ability to work in a fast paced environment

Experience with the following software:
* 3DS Max and/or Maya
* Photoshop
* Z Brush
* Substance Painter & Quixel preferred

Position Summary:

Gear Learning, located in the Wisconsin Center for Education Research manages multiple sources of funding to support the research and development for new and existing game-based learning applications. Our vision is to serve the public as a leading center for games for impact by developing games with broad audiences, demonstrated impact and supported scale. We conduct research and development in games for impact that spans discovery to delivery, producing both technology products and human capital.

The artist will work under the supervision of the Principal Investigator and projects leaders to create artwork for a variety learning games in a variety of art styles. The position requires the ability to work in 2D and 3D software packages as Photoshop, Maya or 3DS MAX, and ZBrush to create medically accurate 3D models. In addition, the position is responsible for working within the Unity 3D game engine to organize and optimize artwork to work with AR/VR (Augmented reality/virtual reality) applications as well as platforms such as iOS, Android, Web and stand-alone executables.

Additional Information:

This position may be extended or made renewable pending additional funding.
