Degree and area of specialization:

Bachelor's degree required. Major in biological sciences or health-related field preferred.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

Bench research experience is required; preferably greater than 2 years of experience including part-time and student employment/internships.

Experience in at least some of the following areas is preferred: recruiting human subjects, handling human tissue, DNA preparation, ELISA, cell culture, and microscopy.

Title prefix will be determined based on years of relevant professional work experience.

Position Summary:

The candidate will be responsible for facilitating the research program of Dr. Miriam Shelef in the Department of Medicine, Division of Rheumatology. Dr. Shelef's research focuses on the pathophysiology of rheumatoid arthritis, inflammation, immunity, and autoimmunity. The candidate will work with Dr. Shelef and other laboratory members to conduct high quality research to ultimately improve human health. The successful candidate will recruit human subjects and process their blood samples, perform immunology experiments, and assist with lab management. This individual will need to be highly organized, very detail-oriented, a critical thinker, always professional, and a great team player. Applicants must have independent transportation and be willing to work flexible hours.
