Summary of Job Duties
The Graduate Assistant of Athletic Training reports to the Associate Director of Programs.
This position will assist University Recreation by providing assessment, treatment, and training to members and participants. The specific responsibilities include attending scheduled clinic hours, events, and games to serve as athletic trainer, responsible for on-site and immediate actions and decisions regarding injuries, return to play, continued care, or urgent care. This position will coordinate medical referrals for participants as needed, develop and implement injury evaluation, injury management, and treatment rehabilitation programs for UREC participants, serve as clinical preceptor for entry-level master's athletic training program. This position will maintain involvement in current and future research activity that may be occurring in partnership with UREC and other academic units, develop and maintain professional relationships with participants, guests, and UREC staff.
Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to assisting in departmental special event programming, attending departmental staff meetings and college and/or university meetings and events when needed, maintaining database of participants for monthly, semester, and annual reporting, and all duties as assigned.
This position offers $12,500 annually plus tuition waiver (fees excluded) and travel stipend (pending funding).

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or master's degree in Athletic Training from a Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education ( CAATE ) accredited Athletic Training Program
  • Licensed through Arkansas State Board
  • Certified Athletic Trainer
  • Maintain current American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer or equivalent
  • Commitment to customer service and interpersonal communication skills
  • Minimum 3.0 grade point average
  • Admission to the College of Education and Health Professions graduate degree program
  • Satisfactory completion of the GRE prior to employment with the department of University Recreation
