Staff Accountant


Clark University's Financial Services seeks to fill the position of Staff Accountant/Payroll and Accounts Payable. Reporting to the Senior Assistant Controller of the Financial Services, the Staff Accountant will support the accounting function of the University and perform regular analysis, review and reconciliation of accounts and processes.

Duties and Responsibilities
Included in a range of responsibilities, the Staff Accountant will perform monthly reconciliations and analysis with a concentration in payroll and accounts payable ledgers; create and maintain University master vendor files; generate, review and process journal entries; assist Payroll Manager with accounting related transactions and reconciliations; assist management in the development of financial reports; identifying opportunities for improvements in efficiencies and internal controls; development, maintenance and documentation of University financial policies and procedures; prepare documentation for annual audit; administration of the University purchasing card program; reviewing 1099 income and year end processing, as well as other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in business or accounting with a minimum of 2 years of experience or five or more years of experience in an accounting field. Applicant should possess strong accounting technical skills and ability to research and formalize accounting treatment of significant transactions. Must possess demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with all levels of the University.

Technical qualifications include experience with utilizing computer-based accounting systems. Strong Microsoft Excel knowledge is required, payroll and Banner experience preferred.

This is a full-time, 40 hours per week, 12 month position with excellent benefits, which include employee and family tuition benefits, 4 weeks' vacation, generous retirement plan, free use of campus fitness center and many more.
