Enterprise System Administrator

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Perform server administration on any or all enterprise servers, enterprise storage, and workstations platforms.

  • Perform the installation and troubleshooting of new and previously installed enterprise servers. Enterprise servers include file servers, active directory domain controllers, web servers, print servers, licensing servers, enterprise antivirus server, enterprise backup server, enterprise virtual infrastructure and other application servers as needed.

  • Provide students and faculty with tier 2 helpdesk support. Provide tier 3 support to SCS.

  • Assist the Student Computer Support Director with daily LAN/WAN operational networking tasks.

  • Develop workstation platforms for use in the classrooms and labs. Manage the operations and maintenance of enterprise information security control and ensure the appropriate operational security.

  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Director of Student Computer Support.


WORK PERFORMED:



  • Provide day to day support for Microsoft Servers, tier 1, 2 and 3 technical support for all SCS enterprise servers.

  • Install and maintain server farm and software.

  • Answer and troubleshoot college computer lab calls for support at a tier 2 response level.

  • Develop scripts and other automated system to improve productivity of the department

  • Provide backup support for Pharos printing service

  • Manage all image deployment servers and imaging processes

  • Administration of Microsoft Server Operating Systems

  • Administration and support of Enterprise Backup Software

  • Design, Develop, Administration and Support of Enterprise SAN

  • Administration of Linux/Unix Systems.

  • Administration of Enterprise Network and Server Monitoring systems.

  • Administration of Windows Update services

  • Administration of McAfee EPO servers for Virus Update

  • Administration and support of Digital Signage Servers and clients

  • Administration and support of Firewall for the dept.

  • Administration and support of Virtualized Server Infrastructure

  • Develops solutions and recommends alternatives and/or upgrades needed to meet instructional needs.

  • Develops solutions and recommends alternatives and/or upgrade needed to meet enterprise server needs.

  • Responsible for the hardware maintenance of servers and network/shared storage

  • Responsible for development of prototypes for workstations and peripherals (diagnosis, repair, maintain and upgrades).

  • Develop and deploy software using software virtualization and/or virtualized desktop

  • Develop and deploy software using Microsoft scripting language and/or Microsoft System Configuration Manager

  • Provide technical assistance regarding the purchase of software and hardware.

  • Coordinates repairs, upgrades, and special installations with technicians, faculty, and college staff.

  • Independently design, program, test, and implement complex programs.

  • Work collaboratively across a variety of IT area to implemented enterprise solutions, support existing technology, including documentation of current systems.

  • Maintain and manage the day to day operation of the NOC

  • Provide user training as needed

  • Document work performed

  • Performs other duties as assigned.


SUPERVISION:



  • Desktop Solutions Technician


WORKING CONDITIONS:



  • Occasional overtime required.

  • Hours-as assigned, including the possibility of evening or weekend coverage.

  • May occasionally travel to other HCC campus sites.

  • Lifting microcomputer equipment up to 25 lbs. Transporting microcomputer equipment up to 50 lbs. on carts. Moving furniture to access microcomputer equipment.

  • Work areas sometimes include closets and crawl spaces which are close quarters.


  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems and/or AAS degrees with Information Technology emphasis, or 5 years of system management.

  • Knowledge of server performance monitoring systems.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Configuration System

  • Knowledge of Microsoft System Center

  • Knowledge of Linux and BSD systems.

  • Knowledge of Networking, specifically related to TCP/IP network stack.

  • Knowledge of storage technologies, i.e. SAN/NAS

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Desktop and Server Operating Systems

  • Knowledge of imaging process using Imaging software

  • Knowledge of Virtualized Environment, including software virtualization

  • Knowledge of Dell Servers and Workstation Equipment

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

  • Regular attendance is a requirement of this job.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server Administration

  • Knowledge of programming languages (PowerShell, Vbscript, Perl)

  • Performs all duties while considering the impact of any actions on the college's sustainability initiatives in the areas of environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and economic prosperity.

  • Expert in SCCM 2012 R2

  • Expert knowledge in Windows Servers

  • Knowledge and development of powershell scripts

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 10AM-6:30PM
Compensation: $59,334
