Job Summary:
The Research Grant Analyst is primarily responsible for all post-award administration for grants that the University receives. Several of the chief tasks include directing and leading the University goals and strategic post-award initiatives by monitoring, analyzing and continuously improving upon the business processes of the post-award operation. This includes policy development, analysis and reporting, compliance, and coordination with members of Academic Affairs and applicable faculty as well as the Controller's Office. This position will work closely with the Director of Foundation Government & Academic Grants to assure alignment of efforts and improvement in strategic operations.

Scope:
Under the supervision of the Vice President for Financial Affairs, the Research Grant Analyst will manage all post-award services of the University. The Research Grant Analyst is required to have extensive experience in all aspects of post-award services, know what is required and how to build and operate a post-award support operation.

Principal Responsibilities:
• Oversee and coordinate post-award aspects of federal, state, and local government and private grants, utilizing the Banner information system and its modules where appropriate
• Develop, update, and maintain post-award policies and procedures related to all University grants and awards
• Work with principal investigators (PI's) on preparation of monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc grant financial reports as required to support the University's post-award process
• Review and sign reports ensuring completeness, internal consistency and adherence to University and funding agency policies prior to submitting to the sponsors
• Work with the University Controller's Office to oversee timely submission of financial reporting to sponsors prior to their due dates, and administer timely invoicing of University expenditures and collections from external sponsors
• Coordinate with University Budget & Planning to assure that applicable budgets are correct and monitored
• Identify and develop management reports required of externally funded projects as well as administer the overall financial aspects of such programs to the Colleges and University
• Participate in specialized training activities related to sponsored programs and lead initiatives to improve the University's processes related to the conduct of sponsored programs
• Maintain current knowledge of sponsor requirements, procedures and areas of interest and detect areas where new regulations need to be implemented
• Document and maintain records confirming compliance to applicable federal regulations, policies, guidelines, latest applications and amendments
• Develop and implement new faculty workshops and other face-to-face trainings regarding the University's policies and procedures relating to post-award sponsored programs
• Oversee subgrantee risk assessment and develop monitoring process for subgrants.
• Work with the Vice President of Financial Affairs to provide financial oversight and monitor award balances of sponsored grant programs
• Periodically, but no less than quarterly, prepare and discuss summary status reports on all financial and non-financial aspects jointly with the Vice President for Financial Affairs and the Vice President for Academic Affairs
• Other duties as assigned

Required Skills:
• Proficiency in administrative software, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat and PeopleAdmin
• Expert proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Extensive experience and knowledge in coordinating and supervising federal reporting requirements
• Ability to understand and apply university policies and procedures , as well as the laws, rules and regulations pertaining to grants, contracts, cooperative agreements, sub-awards and subcontracts
• Strong customer service focus and interpersonal and communication skills
• Effective analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to prioritize and work under pressure in a deadline oriented environment

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Public Administration, Finance or closely related field
• Minimum of 3 years of post-award grant or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications:
• 5+ years of similar work experience
• Post-award experience in a higher education or not-for-profit setting
• Experience with Banner information systems
• Master's Degree ( MBA or related)
• Certified Research Administrator ( CRA )
