Summary of Position This is a nine-month, Tenure-Track faculty position within the School of Digital Media at Ferris State University. The faculty position will teach primarily programming courses and advise students for the Digital Animation and Game Design program.

Required Qualifications

Required Education Master's degree in Game Development, Media, Entertainment, Computer Science or equivalent.

Required Work Experience Professional-level 2D and 3D game programming skills, as exhibited by portfolio.
Two years of experience in interactive development of software towards entertainment.
The successful candidate must also demonstrate the potential for undergraduate teaching excellence, must be able to contribute to the ongoing development of the department, and must show strong interpersonal and communication skills needed to work effectively with a diverse array of students and colleagues.

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered 1. Multiplatform game development: PC/Mac, console, web, and mobile game development.
2. Experience designing and developing VR/AR games or applications.
3. Programming skills in several languages, including C++, C#, JavaScript, ActionScript, Python, and Java.
4. The ability to work with frameworks such as . NET and MonoGame.
5. Multiplayer game programming skills, including the ability to design and program game servers and clients, developing protocols, working with sockets, and solving problems like lag compensation.
6. Working knowledge of game development and level design in professional engines, such as Unreal Engine, Unity, CryEngine, and Source.
7. Working knowledge of 3D modeling / animation software, such as the Autodesk Suite.
8. Working knowledge of visual arts design software, especially the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite of applications.

Duties 1. Serve as an academic advisor for the Digital Animation and Game Design ( DAGD ) program. Includes regular advising dates and times. Advises students on equivalent courses; assists with student registration; verifies consortium forms; and reviews graduation audit requirements.

Duties 2. Teach courses for the DAGD program. Teache a minimum of 12 credits during the Fall and Spring semester (24 total).

Duties 3. Conduct program development and recruit new students; attend career and college fairs; visit local middle and high schools to inform students and counselors of careers in DAGD .

Duties 4. Serve as a liaison to DAGD industry; meet key individuals in the industry to promote Ferris' DAGD program; identify internship sites for DAGD students.

Candidates must be able to work closely with other faculty members supporting curricula development and department goals. They must be student centered focusing on the development of learning and assessment.

Responsibilities Faculty members also have professional responsibilities which may include advising students, orientation and registration of students, participation in University committees, keeping regular posted office hours (which are scheduled at times convenient for students), and participation in traditional functions which have academic significance. Faculty members may be required to teach off-campus or in an on-line environment.

Required Skills and Abilities 1. Professional-level object-oriented programming skills in at least 3 programming languages.
2. Experience using version control software and code repositories.
3. Professional-level 2D and 3D game programming skills, as exhibited by portfolio.
4. A working knowledge of and ability to communicate game programming design patterns.
5. The ability to design code architecture and create UML diagrams.
6. The ability to research and utilize API references and documentation
