Degree and area of specialization:

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance and/or Management Information System degree is preferred.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

3-5 years of experience in one or more of the following areas:
Experience in development and implementation of financial systems.
Experience in data warehouse development and/or maintenance.
Experience in data query tools such as Hyperion, Brio.
Experience and knowledge in PeopleSoft Financials or comparable ERP system.
Experience in PeopleSoft query and N-Vision Reporting

Ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships with management and staff at all levels, as well as other offices and divisions/departments.
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
Knowledge and experience in IT system development life cycle.
Knowledge of UW Madison and/or State of Wisconsin accounting practices, procedures and terminologies.
Project management experience.
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and government financial reporting principals and standards.
Knowledge of the Office of Management and Budget federal grant accounting and reporting requirements.
Knowledge of record retention policies and procedures.
Demonstrated problem solving ability and effective decision-making within a team working environment.
Advanced skills using Microsoft Excel.
Knowledge or experience in software training methodology.
Demonstrated advanced written and oral communications skills.

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Financial Reporting, Analysis and Systems, this position is responsible for the ongoing development and maintenance of financial reporting tools, financial data management and financial data analytics for UW-Madison Accounting Services. Responsibilities include development and maintenance of the primary financial reporting tool used on the UW-Madison campus, the Wisconsin Data Mart (WISDM). The position will also be directly involved in the development and roll out of a redesign to WISDM that is called WISER. This position is responsible for the monitoring, maintenance and development of the data warehouse tables, or data views, that are used for various financial reporting needs across the UW-Madison campus. Further, this position is a primary resource responding to as needed ad hoc data requests and also actively participates in the development of related training for campus constituents.

This position is responsible for managing projects and working with daily operations that include efforts of highly technical staff (in database administration, SQL server administration, and applications development), administrative, financial and accounting personnel and functional process owners.
