Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

One or two years required, Three or more years of substantial involvement in sponsored programs administration is preferred. Experience with: grants, contracts and sponsored research; federal and nonfederal sponsors/agencies; program, budgetary, regulatory, and compliance requirements.
Ability to work effectively with faculty and staff; effective oral and written communication skills; ability to be
flexible in work assignments; ability to meet deadlines; independent problem solving and analytical abilities; comprehensive working with Microsoft Excel and Word and with database management tools, and have the ability to develop complex spreadsheets and grants-related database reports.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative, collegial team environment.

Position Summary:

This position is a member of the College of Engineering Research Services Office located within the Dean's office, which has administrative responsibility for all aspects of extramural research support for 9 departments and 36 centers.

This position is responsible for advising and supporting pre-award sponsored research activities for faculty and staff in the College of Engineering including but not limited to: proposal review and approval, industry agreements, non-funded agreements (such as material transfer and non-disclosure agreements), etc. Activities will require interacting directly with investigators, faculty/staff, department/centers, campus administrators, and sponsors/agencies in preparation, submission and negotiations of applications/proposals and agreements ensuring that University and funding agency rules, regulations, policies, and guidelines are followed.
