Assistant Vice Chancellor - Marketing

Job Description:

FLSA Status: Exempt

Salary: Commensurate with experience and education

Job Summary: The Assistant Vice Chancellor for Marketing shares in the responsibility for the oversight and implementation of TCU's brand to raise the university's visibility, enhance and build its reputation and ensure TCU builds and maintains strong connections with preferred audiences. Of paramount importance is the alignment of four offices - community projects, graphic design, university marketing, and website and social media management and integration of staff work with communication professionals across the division.

Duties and Essential Job Functions:

Manages, provides oversight of and aligns staff activities of staff in four offices to ensure effective positioning of TCU. Ensures integration of admission and athletics marketing as well as other marketing efforts across campus. Works with Assistant Vice Chancellor, Communications, to ensure ongoing integration of marketing and communications teams. Oversees the implementation and management of strategic marketing and digital plans within TCU's colleges, schools, centers, institutes, departments and administration units; ensures university's brand and message infused throughout these efforts. Measures and tracks utilization of marketing content across university and on digital platforms (i.e., websites, social media, interactive walls).

Manages and develops, in coordination with staff, strategies to identify or create content (video, photography, infographics, etc.) on an ongoing basis for social media and key digital signage and interactive walls throughout campus. Oversees the development and implementation of the university's advertising plan (print and digital) to audiences on and off campus and assists with tracking indicators of success. Manages environmental graphics throughout TCU on an as-needed basis (new and updated). Oversees the development, refresh and implementation of a campus-wide website strategy (information architecture, SEO, analytics, user experience, strong brand presentation); ensures continued maintenance of and support for web standards.

Oversees and implements marketing messages via social media platforms in coordination with social media and communications team. Maintains and supports ongoing efforts to establish TCU's visual identity brand standards across campus in coordination with graphic design and other staff. Assists VC for Marketing & Communication in ongoing market research. Manages and ensures consistency of the University's logo and associated marks; manages requests for use of TCU's likeness or film location requests from outside entities. Oversees TCU special events in coordination with community projects and conference service offices and assists in development and application of best practices in these areas. Advocates for the professional development training for staff that identifies and supports current and future skills needed for professional success. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in marketing, advertising, public relations, journalism or other related field of study.
  • 6 plus years of progressively responsible experience managing marketing and digital teams in complex environments.


Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Direct managerial experience of 5 or more staff
  • Experience in higher education or other education setting


Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Google Analytics IQ


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Knowledge of how to develop and maintain an organization's brand.
  • Knowledge and understanding of digital trends and the appropriate application of such trends across functions.
  • Knowledge of and experience with SEO and digital analytics.
  • Skill in utilizing digital applications to appropriately advance brand.
  • Skill in strategic thinking and ability to successfully manage and implement multiple projects concurrently.
  • Skill in identifying and implementing performance metrics for direct reports.
