Trade Show Event Specialist

Trade Show Event Specialist
The Event Specialist for Trade Shows coordinates and oversees approximately 20 tradeshows with a 10x10 booth. In addition to working closely with the Tradeshow Event Manger, this position will work with multiple internal and external stakeholders, using a collaborative approach to identify and execute goals. The key responsibilities of the Events Specialist will include managing content and promotional strategy, coordinating tradeshow services and logistics, post-show reporting, and budget management.
Success will be measured by enhancing the student experience, increasing brand awareness, adhering to the budget, retaining students and generating leads and referrals. This position reports to the Senior Manager of Face to Face Events.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee Walden's regional tradeshow program, collaborating with marketing brand managers, business development team, faculty and other key stakeholders to achieve objectives for each conference (brand awareness, lead generation, thought leadership, etc.)
Create and oversee the Regional trade show budget, including yearly budget planning along with monthly reconciliation.
Research and gain increasing awareness of the tradeshow marketplace. Present recommendations to college leadership on tradeshow selection in order to build the annual calendar.
Collaborate with the business development team on regional/local tradeshows. Provide information on show selection, budget allocation, and marketing strategies. Identify and recommend partnership opportunities in conjunction with association relationships.
As a member of the University Events Team, collaborate with team members to provide support for Walden University events, including commencements, honors and awards dinners, national and regional faculty meetings, alumni events, and other on-the-ground activities, including leading specific meetings within events.
Collaborate with Business Development, Alumni Relations, Marketing Managers, Center for Faculty Excellence, and other stakeholders to identify opportunities to engage alumni, students, prospects, and faculty at all event functions.
Manage Professional Conference Residencies taking place in conjunction with some tradeshows. Attendance ranges between 10 -40 people.
Other duties assigned by the Director of University Events.

External Requirements
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree and/or comparable industry related experience.
Minimum of 1 year tradeshow, event, or conference planning.
Effective in meeting deadlines with management and key internal stakeholders.
Excellent written, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills.
Detail oriented with solid analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent project management and organizational skills: the ability to plan and manage multiple events simultaneously.
Thrives in a fast-paced matrixed environment.
Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Internet navigation, and database use. Familiarity with PowerPoint and Photoshop, Cvent event management preferred.
Ability and willingness to travel to event locations; approximately 10% travel - includes occasional weekends and holidays.
