Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach (Specialist 1A)


The University of Connecticut is seeking applications and nominations for the full time position of Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach.

Duties and Responsibilities will include:

Assisting the Director of Football Strength and Conditioning with the development and administration of the strength and conditioning programs for the UConn football program and other teams assigned by the Director of Football Strength and Conditioning; strict compliance with NCAA regulations and policies of the University and the American Athletic Conference; assistance with practice and game-day duties including pre-game/practice warm-ups; collaboration with Athletic Training staff as to the monitoring and rehabilitation of student-athletes with injuries; assistance with communication of strength program organization to prospective student-athletes and parents; and assist with supervisory responsibility of strength and conditioning interns.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree; three years of experience as a Strength and Conditioning Coach for football at the collegiate level; Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA); CPR/First Aid certification; demonstrated knowledge of the correct application of NCAA regulations; has prior experience with teaching the power lifts, the Olympic lifts and the various forms of periodization.

Preferred Qualifications

Three years prior experience with a Division 1 collegiate team or the NFL; certified by USAW; and has designed and implemented a strength and conditioning program for other college strength programs.

Appointment Terms

This is an 11-month appointment subject to annual renewal. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
