The Department of Physical Education and Recreation at the University of Oregon seeks a qualified person that will oversee and provide guidance to the business operations, research, assessment, marketing, membership and human resources needs of the department. The Associate Director of Business Operations reports to the Director of Physical Education and Recreation. The Associate Director is a member of the department’s Leadership Team. This position manages and directs the following professional positions: Assistant Director for Finance, Membership Services Coordinator, and Business Assistant. Indirect reports include the Accounting Assistant and Procurement and Capital Asset Coordinator.
Qualifications and competencies include: Master’s degree required in recreation administration, physical education, or related field from an accredited institution. Five (5) years of experience with progressive responsibility in the university/college campus environment. Three (3) years of supervisory experience. Demonstrated understanding of business services as it relates to a university/college environment. Experience in the areas of research and assessment. Demonstrated experience with and/ or commitment to working effectively with individual from diverse backgrounds, in support of an inclusive and welcoming environment. Strong organizational skills, including the ability to plan strategically. Understanding of current issues and best practices in university recreation administration. Fiscal oversight experience. Marketing and communications experience. Evidence of leadership and decision making experience as well as commitment to student learning and development. Five (5) years of progressive responsibility in the university/college campus recreation.
