The Position:
Applications are being accepted for a restricted position as a College 2 Career Coordinator for Disability Support Programs and Services (DSPS) in the San Diego Community College District. The current vacancy exists at the District Office. The position is a faculty position to support a College 2 Career grant that SDCCD will administer. The position is restricted and continues for one year only. The current assignment is 12-month, 211 days.



Note: This is a restricted position funded by a cooperative agreement with the Department of Rehabilitation through June 30, 2017. The position could continue, based upon renewal of funding through the Department of Rehabilitation.

Major Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the DSPS Director, the incumbent will coordinate the College 2 Career Program designed for students with intellectual disabilities including educational and vocational planning, social skills instruction, and work/internship placement. Responsibilities will include coordination of specialized courses and eligibility to ensure student access and liaison with Department of Rehabilitation and San Diego Regional Center counselors regarding student progress. The Coordinator will provide outreach, conduct intake interviews, consult with students regarding their educational and employment plan, appraise skills and interests, establish group counseling programs, coordinate with existing vocational and transition programs, and coordinate with the Department of Rehabilitation and San Diego Regional Center. The coordinator will assist in the establishment and monitoring of program activities and train academic and classified staff; monitor cooperative agreement budget; and, prepare student activity reports.

Qualifications:
The minimum qualifications for service as a community college counselor of students with disabilities shall be satisfied by meeting one of the following requirements;(1) Masters degree in rehabilitation counseling, or(2) Masters degree in counseling, guidance counseling, student personnel, clinical or counselingpsychology, education counseling, social work, career development, marriage and familytherapy, marriage, family and child counseling, or a Bachelors degree in marriage and familytherapy or in marriage, family and child counseling and possession of a license as a Marriage andFamily Therapist (MFT); and either fifteen or more semester units in upper division or graduatelevel course work specifically related to people with disabilities, or completion of six semesterunits, or the equivalent of a graduate-level counseling practicum or counseling field workcourses, in a post-secondary Disabled Students Programs and Services (DSPS) Program or in aprogram dealing predominantly or exclusively with people with disabilities, or two years of fulltimeexperience, or the equivalent, in one or more of the following;A. Counseling for students with disabilities; orB. Counseling in industry, government, public agencies, military or private social welfareorganizations in which the responsibilities of the position were predominantly or exclusively forpersons with disabilities, or the equivalent.

Desired Qualifications:
A successful candidate must demonstrate the ability and skill to: Effective communications skills, including English language grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary. Factors associated with intellectual/cognitive Disabilities Behaviors elicited by intellectual/cognitive disability Interpersonal skills including tact, patience, and courtesy. Laws governing provision and delivery of DSPS services, including Americans with Disabilities Act, Rehabilitation Act and Sections504 & 508. Principles and techniques of training and instruction. Record-keeping, technology and writing techniques. District organization, operations, policies and objectives. Ability to bring together information and people from diverse areas in order to develop cooperative initiatives and training. Coordinate program activities and services with district and community liaisons including Department of Rehabilitation, San Diego Regional Center and transition-based programs. Analyze intellectual disability assessment data and make recommendations for education and employment planning. Analyze situation accurately and adopt effective course of action. Communicate effectively. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Maintain records and prepare reports, supportive of grant requirements. Meet schedules and time lines, as identified in the grant. Perform program support functions such as coordinating facility use to meet requirements of service delivery. Plan and coordinate work, including the need to include adjunct faculty to meet contract demands. Understand and follow directions. Update and maintain forms, equipment, and related documents.

Pay Information:
Class 1, Step A Class 6, Step C ($5,658.89 $7,625.90) per month based on the current AFT COLLEGE Faculty Tenured-Tenured Track Monthly Salary Schedule.

Initial salary placement for this Assistant Professor is commensurate with required education and related teaching experience as outlined in section A2.1 of the AFT Faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement and it is non-negotiable. The District offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package including employer paid medical, dental, vision plans, sick leave, and opportunities for professional development. This position is FLSA Exempt and may not accrue overtime. Benefits will be provided under the terms of the AFT-Guild, Local 1931 Faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement. Annual Salaries will be recalculated for service less than a full academic year based on Education Code 87815, any required adjustment will be made with-in the first pay period. Travel reimbursement for interviewees traveling more than 200 miles, one-way, may be paid according to geographic location (see SDCCD Travel Stipend Policy, Rev 7/14/2011).
