California State University Dominguez Hills was established in 1960 and is one of the 23 campuses that comprise The California State University System. CSU Dominguez Hills is an urban, comprehensive public university that serves a culturally rich, diverse student body of approximately 14,000 students at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Located on a 346-acre site in the South Bay portion of the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area, CSU Dominguez Hills has a highly pluralistic student body, which includes a significant number of non-traditional, working adult students as well as approximately 2,000 students enrolled in distance learning programs statewide. The University, with its five Academic Colleges, has more than 300 full-time faculty members and is situated in an area characterized by an extraordinary heterogeneity of people, and an extensive array of high technology industries and professional services.

Conditions of Employment:
The person holding this position is considered a `mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.

Position Information:
This is a full-time, permanent (probationary) position.

Special Working Conditions: Evening and weekend work may be required.

Department: User and Access Services

The Information Technology Division is responsible for providing leadership and support in information technology for the entire CSU Dominguez Hills community. The Division promotes IT solutions that improve the teaching, learning, research, and administrative environment of the University. The Vice President/CITO provides overall management of the IT Division. The Division of Information Technology is comprised for four production groups: Infrastructure Services, User and Access Services, Academic Technology, and Enterprise Applications.

Major Job Duties:
Under the immediate supervision of the Manager of User and Access Services, the incumbent will provide technical computing support to faculty, staff, and administrators for campus standard software applications, Windows and Apple operating systems, and client connectivity software. The incumbent will configure and test workstations, laptops, and mobile devices for connectivity to the campus network; assign and/or resolve incidents in the Help Desk queue and from voicemail and enter a detailed resolution into the incident tracking database; enter, control, and maintain the IT asset inventory; and complete operational functions related to the campus access device rollout program such as imaging and re-imaging them.

Qualifications:
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
The incumbent should be highly skilled at customer service through phone and service desk support.

The incumbent should have an in depth knowledge of Apple hardware, software, and apps (examples: Mac Pro, MacBook Pro, iMac, MacBook Air, OS Xs, and iOSs), Windows platforms (examples: XP/Vista/Windows 7, Windows 8), and other devices. General knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, etc.), Microsoft Forefront Anti-Virus, and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure. General knowledge of network connectivity, integration, configuration and protocols (TCP/IP). Knowledge of Ethernet based local area networks. Basic experience utilizing a ticket tracking system such as ServiceNow or other ticketing system.

Ability to convey information of a technical nature in an understandable manner to a diverse user community. Ability to answer basic technical questions and solve problems quickly. Ability to troubleshoot, diagnoses, and solve common user hardware problems. Ability to install, configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and use Windows and Apple applications and operating system software. Ability to troubleshoot network and email client connectivity problems. Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with others in both normal and pressured situations. Ability to work independently and in teams and to maintain positive work relationships with co-workers. Ability to communicate clearly, both in writing and orally, and to follow written and oral instructions. Ability to work in a noisy office environment.

Additional Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Creating a knowledge base technical documentation for future reference. Ability to diagnose printer problems and be ability to order parts to repair it, if needed.

The position activities require the use of a variety of personal computers, peripherals, and mobile devices such as Windows workstations and tablets, Apple workstations and tablets, various mobile devices, etc.

Experience and Education:
Minimum Qualifications:
Required Education: Bachelors degree in computer science, information systems, educational technology, communications, or related fields, or similar certified coursework in applicable fields of study.

Preferred Education: Continuing education/professional training classes in Apple and Microsoft Office applications and operating systems software.

Required Experience: A basic foundation of knowledge and skills in technical information systems and application program packages is a prerequisite.

Preferred Experience: At least two years working experience as an information technology assistant or in a customer service environment supporting different platform computers hardware and software. Experience working in a higher education environment is preferred.

Salary Range:
The salary range for this classification is: $3,470 - $5,994 monthly.
