Applications are now being accepted for the position of Assistant Professor, Business/Business Law beginning fall 2017 at San Diego Mesa College. While the current vacancies are at Mesa College, applicants should understand that they are subject to assignment at any District facility at the option of the Chancellor. In addition, this pool may be used to fill identical vacancies that may occur during the 2016-2017 academic year.

Major Responsibilities:
Primary responsibility for this position is the teaching of the Business courses (such as Introduction to Business, Business Communication, Business Management, Business Mathematics and Business Law). Depending upon the qualifications and experience of the successful candidates and the needs of the Department, other responsibilities may include teaching the following: Entrepreneurship, Entrepreneurship, Human Relations, Real Estate, Small Business Management, and Social Media. Each assignment will be for 15 class hours per week, and may include day, evening and Saturday classes. Additional responsibilities of Mesa College tenured/tenure-track faculty include maintaining regular office hours for student advisement, curriculum review and development, program review, serving on College and District committees, and participating in various departmental and college activities.

Qualifications:
Masters in business, business management, business administration, accountancy, finance, marketing, or business educationORbachelors in any of the above AND masters in economics, personnel management, public administration, or JD or LL.B. degreeORbachelors in economics with a business emphasis AND masters in personnel management, public administration, or JD or LL.B. degreeOR the equivalent.

Desired Qualifications:
The successful candidate should demonstrate evidence of: Knowledge, experience and/or academic preparation to teach college level Business curricula (i.e., Introduction to Business, Business Communication, Business Management, Business Mathematics, and Business Law). Knowledge and experience in teaching lower division/community college level students and commitment to maintaining college standards. Professional work experience in the field of Business, including demonstrated excellence in project development and completion. Evidence of commitment to remaining current in the discipline of Business/Business Law, and to maintaining its program excellence that reflect industry standards and practices. Proficiency in structuring, delivering, communicating, and evaluating Business education using innovative approaches and multiple delivery mechanisms such as lecture, laboratory, computer applications, project-based assignments, survey exercises, media techniques and on-line education. Working knowledge of learning styles and teaching techniques. Experience in the development and/or review of courses and curriculum. Ability to work collegially and collaboratively with faculty, within and outside of the department to collaborate, teach, plan, and implement courses and programs. Commitment to supporting departmental and college missions. Experience and commitment to building community relationships, industry partnerships and maintain an advisory committee. Demonstrated cultural competency, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff. Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication.

Licenses:
Minimum qualifications can also be met with: Possession of a California Community College Instructor Credential (valid for life) in Business and Industrial Management (private enterprise)

Pay Information:
Class 1, Step A Class 6, Step C ($5,658.89 $7,625.90) per month based on the current AFT COLLEGE Faculty Tenured-Tenured Track Monthly Salary Schedule.

Initial salary placement for this Assistant Professor is commensurate with required education and related teaching experience as outlined in section A2.1 of the AFT Faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement and it is non-negotiable. The District offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package including employer paid medical, dental, vision plans, sick leave, and opportunities for professional development. This position is FLSA Exempt and may not accrue overtime. Benefits will be provided under the terms of the AFT-Guild, Local 1931 Faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement. Annual Salaries will be recalculated for service less than a full academic year based on Education Code 87815, any required adjustment will be made with-in the first pay period. Travel reimbursement for interviewees traveling more than 200 miles, one-way, may be paid according to geographic location (see SDCCD Travel Stipend Policy, Rev 7/14/2011). Typically, Assistant Professors earn tenure after 4 years and promote to Associate Professor.
